Governor Jennifer Granholm signed an executive order creating a task force to address the threat of Chronic Wasting Disease in Michigan's deer and elk populations.

The task force will include five members appointed by the Governor, who will serve as the voting members of the task force. The directors of the Departments of Agriculture, Community Health, Environmental Quality, Natural Resources, State Police, and Transportation will serve as non-voting members of the task force.

The appointed members include; Dr. Howard A. Tanner, Dr. William W. Taylor, Dr. Lonnie King, Dr. George Anderson and Dr. Rosina Bierbaum.

Dr. Howard A. Tanner was the former Department of Natural Resources Director and will serve as the chair to the task force.

Dr. William W. Taylor is the current chair of the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University and will serve as vice-chair to the task force.

Dr. Lonnie King is the current Dean of Veterinarian Medicine at Michigan State University.

Dr. George Anderson was the former Chief of the Bureau of Infectious Disease Control with the Michigan Department of Public Health.

Dr. Rosina Bierbaum is the current Dean of Environmental and Natural Resource Policy and Management at the University of Michigan.
