Licensing
The Licensing Division is located at the Commission's Lansing offices. Licensing staff reviews and processes all requests and reports pertaining to the issuance of retail, manufacturers and wholesalers licenses. Over 16,500 retail businesses, including bars, grocery stores, restaurants, hotels, convenience stores and pharmacies have one or more active licenses. The Division renews over 30,100 retail licenses and issues about 5,000 Special (24-hour) Licenses annually. The Manufacturers and Wholesalers Section is responsible for the issuance of approximately 5,600 licenses and permits (manufacturers and other agents) and the approval of labeling and advertising by manufacturers and wholesalers.
