The mission of the Lake St. Clair Fisheries Research Station is to collect, analyze, and report information on the aquatic habitat and fisheries resources of southeast Michigan’s Great Lakes and connecting waters to facilitate and promote scientific resource management.
This mission is pursued by:
Monitoring the status of populations of recreationally important fish species with large and small vessel sampling programs
Providing scientific evaluations of fisheries management actions
Providing data analysis and study reporting assistance to fisheries managers
Providing technical editing expertise to professional peers in specialized research areas
Publishing peer-reviewed technical articles in specialized research areas
Serving as educators and consultants to Fisheries Division in our areas of expertise
Writing Fisheries Division technical documents and policies and procedures for areas of expertise
Developing active research collaborations with professional peers and university faculty and students
Participating in interagency data collection and analysis efforts that fuel scientific management of Great Lakes interjurisdictional fishery resources
