Just as government travel agencies provide tourist information and departments of natural resources provide information about forests and lakes, the Michigan Historical Center provides information about the state's history, and the Library of Michigan has many books and other references to all kinds of Michigan information.

The Michigan Historical Center has put historical information in the Michigan Facts and History of this "Find it Online" section of the Web site and in many other categories. You may use these Web pages for your school reports. We do not mail this information in brochures or other printed format.

When you study about Michigan, use a good encyclopedia and do research at your school or public library or on our Web site. Write us a letter or send an e-mail only if you have a specific question about Michigan that cannot be answered by doing your own research. We will give each question serious consideration. Give us time to find the answer and get back to you. If you need to finish your report tonight or tomorrow, we might not be able to help.

Sometimes our answer will give suggestions for sources (Web or library) for your own research. If the research involves special books or papers that might be available only at the Michigan Historical Center or the Library of Michigan, we will do our best to provide an answer.
