Governor Granholm Makes Appointments

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointments to the Commission on Services to the Aging, the Board of Ethics, the Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery, and the Michigan Dairy Marketing Program Committee:

Commission on Services to the Aging

Mary P. Gardner, Ph.D. of Lansing, adjunct professor at Michigan State University.  Dr. Gardner is appointed to represent Democrats for a term expiring July 28, 2007.  She succeeds Annette C. Guilfoyle who has resigned.

The Commission on Services to Aging is a bipartisan entity that advises the Office of Services to the Aging, the governor, and the Legislature on matters related to policies and programs for older and aging persons in Michigan.  The commission also promotes senior citizen interests within state government and communities, and administers the federal Older Americans Act programs and state-funded programs.

Board of Ethics

Mark R. Fox of Lansing, president of Fraser Trebilcock Davis & Dunlap, P.C. and an appointed case evaluator for the Ingham County and Clinton County circuit courts.  Mr. Fox is appointed for a term expiring February 7, 2011.  He succeeds Christine A. Derdarian who has resigned.

The Board of Ethics is authorized to receive citizens' complaints concerning alleged unethical conduct by public officers or employees and to inquire into the circumstances surrounding those allegations.

Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery

William C. Cunningham, D.O. of Grand Rapids, executive vice president and chief medical officer of Metro Health Hospital.  Dr. Cunningham is appointed to represent professionals for a term expiring December 31, 2010.

Dennis W. Dobritt, D.O. of Bloomfield Hills, president and medical director of Tri-County Pain Consultants, P.C.  Dr. Dobritt is appointed to represent professionals for a term expiring December 31, 2010.  He succeeds Ann Kuenker whose term has expired.

Vincent J. Granowicz, D.O. of Waterford, physician with V.J. Granowicz, D.O.  Dr. Granowicz is appointed to represent professionals for a term expiring December 31, 2010.  He succeeds Ann Marie Auburn whose term has expired.

Charles E. Kelly, D.O. of Ortonville, chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs for St. Johns Health Care.  Dr. Kelly is appointed to represent professionals for a term expiring December 31, 2010.

Sylvia G. Mustonen, D.O. of Okemos, physician at Visiting Physicians Association. Dr. Mustonen is appointed to represent professionals for a term expiring December 31, 2010.  She succeeds Steven T. Plomaritis whose term has expired.

The Michigan Board of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery is responsible for the licensure and examination of persons prior to their entry into the practice of osteopathic medicine and surgery in Michigan.

Michigan Dairy Marketing Program Committee

Timothy C. Hood of Paw Paw, owner of Hood Farms.  Mr. Hood is appointed to represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association for a term expiring December 31, 2009.  He succeeds Carl G. Kline whose term has expired.

Daniel M. Javor of Hastings, partner with Burdock Hill Dairy LLC.  Mr. Javor is reappointed to represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association for a term expiring December 31, 2009.

Gerald A. Neyer of Shepherd, owner and manager of Neyer Farms Inc.  Mr. Neyer is reappointed to represent the Michigan Farm Bureau for a term expiring December 31, 2009.

Kenneth P. Nobis of St. Johns, partner with Nobis Dairy Farm.  Mr. Nobis is reappointed to represent the Michigan Milk Producers Association for a term expiring December 31, 2009.

John H. Pell of Fremont, owner of M&J Farms.  Mr. Pell is reappointed to represent independent milk cooperatives for a term expiring December 31, 2009.

The Michigan Dairy Marketing Program Committee focuses on research and promotion of the dairy market within the state of Michigan.

These appointments and reappointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Michigan Senate within 60 days.
