Governor Granholm Announces Appointment, Reappointment to Mackinac Island State Park Commission

LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today announced the following appointment and reappointment to the Mackinac Island State Park Commission: 

Barry J. Goodman of Farmington Hills, owner of Goodman Acker, PC law firm.  Mr. Goodman, a Democrat, is appointed for a term expiring April 12, 2013.  He succeeds Joan L. Porteous whose term has expired.

Dennis O. Cawthorne of Mackinac Island, managing member of Kelley Cawthorne, PLLC.  Mr. Cawthorne, a Republican, is reappointed to represent Mackinac Island residents for a term expiring April 12, 2013.

The Mackinac Island State Park Commission, a bipartisan entity, is responsible for all aspects of managing Mackinac State Historic Parks, which include Fort Mackinac, Mackinac Island State Park, Colonial Michilimackinac, and Historic Mill Creek. 

These appointments are subject to Article V, Section 6 of the Michigan State Constitution of 1963.  They stand confirmed unless disapproved by the Senate within 60 days.
