LANSING - Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement on the passing of Senator Edward M. Kennedy:
"Senator Kennedy was a larger-than-life commander in the battle for the underdog. His voice amplified the millions of small voices belonging to the often unheard: the disadvantaged, the disabled, the sick, the elderly, the children. Senator Kennedy was their lion in the Senate, and when he roared on their behalf, history was altered. When Congress passes a health insurance reform act, I hope it is named after the lion of Massachusetts who fought his entire career for health care for all Americans."
