MDIT and DEQ teamed up with Dell, Inc. to collect nearly three semi trucks full of old computers/equipment in East Lansing as part of the RECONNECT program. The free recycling collection Saturday was aimed at protecting the environment from some of the environmentally-sensitive materials contained in computers including lead and other heavy metals, providing citizens with a better alternative for disposing of their electronic computer equipment.
If you missed Saturday's recycling event simply bring your unwanted technology to your participating local Goodwill store or Goodwill donation drop-off site. RECONNECT will refurbish or recycle the equipment, benefiting communities and putting people to work.
