Emergency Nurses Day and Emergency Nurses Week

Whereas, The nation's 100,000 emergency nurses are the first line of patient care in our city/state emergency departments; and,

Whereas, Emergency nurses are committed to providing quality emergency care to their patients; and,

Whereas, Emergency nurses continually demonstrate their professionalism and strive to upgrade standards of practice and improve patient care; and,

Whereas, Emergency nurses endeavor to educate the public in the prevention and treatment of injury and illness and the proper use of emergency services;

Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved, That I, Jennifer M. Granholm, governor of the state of Michigan, do hereby proclaim October 14, 2009, Emergency Nurses Day and the week of October 11, 2009, Emergency Nurses Week in Michigan.  I designate these days as such for all Michiganians to show their appreciation for emergency nurses in Michigan, and to celebrate the dedication and professionalism that this career demands.
