More great news for our state today as businesses continue to choose Michigan
for their expansions and redevelopments. Seven projects, including one expansion
and six brownfield redevelopments, are expected to create or retain 664 jobs
and generate more than $109 million in private investment in communities throughout
the Great Lakes State!
Companies that will expand in Michigan, with the help of our Michigan Economic
Development Corporation, include:
- Xoran Technologies Inc., a unique company that designs and sells compact,
high-quality CT scanners for on-site use by medical specialists, which plans
to invest $3.7 million to expand its operations, creating 386 new jobs in
Ann Arbor.
- Lake Street Petoskey Associates LLC will use a brownfield tax credit to
transform an entire city block in downtown Petoskey into a mixed-use development
creating 115 new jobs.
- Warrior Lacrosse, a manufacturer of lacrosse and hockey equipment, will
partner with DKM Holdings LLC to redevelop a former landfill into a manufacturing,
warehousing, and distribution facility, creating 95 new jobs and retaining
65 jobs in Warren.
In addition, several new development projects in Ludington are expected to
break ground later this year, including a $30 million investment in a multifamily
complex across 11 acres, to be called Pere Pointe Village, by Pere Pointe Limited
LLC. Another developer in Ludington, Schooner Pointe LLC, plans, to turn eight
vacant acres into 115 condo units, creating $23 million in private investment.
Development projects are also heating up in downtown Grand Rapids, as Moch
International LLC will use tax credits to construct a 171-unit apartment building.
Bicycle Factory LLC announced plans to transform a vacant historic structure
in downtown Grand Rapids into a mixed-use development with commercial office
space and 20 apartments creating $3.7 million in investments.
These company expansions and community redevelopment projects once again show
that high-tech companies, developers and business leaders in the manufacturing
sector are looking to Michigan for success in the 21st century and beyond. We
have what it takes for industry leaders to thrive in Michigan, and we will continue
to work together to provide businesses with unique solutions to help give them
the upper hand.
