Suicide is the eleventh leading cause of death in the country. It is also the third leading cause among youths and young adults between 10 and 24 years old.
My name is Janet Olszewski and I am the Director of the Michigan Department of Community Health.
Parents, educators, health-care providers, and health authorities are encouraged to learn more about suicide.
We have to look for the groups at greatest risk, warning signs for suicide, and potential prevention strategies.
Look for the signs of someone at risk of suicide such as previous suicide attempt, a history of depression or other mental illness, and alcohol or drug abuse.
