| Sheryl Mitchell, West Bloomfield |
Since 1997, has been a Senior Analyst for the County Board of Commissioners. Previously, she worked as a Senior Aide to Detroit Council Member Mel Ravitz for over 13 years. She is also Chief of Staff for Oakland County Commissioner Eric Coleman who is serving as President of the National Association of Counties (NACO). Sheryl is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Dearborn (BSA, Political Science) and Central Michigan University (MSA, Public Administration). She is presently working on a Doctorate in Business Administration at Lawrence Technological University.
Born and raised in Detroit, her present hometown is West Bloomfield. She was elected as the first African American to serve as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner in West Bloomfield, and is currently the Treasurer Secretary. She was previously appointed to serve on the Greater West Bloomfield Cable Advisory Board. She is on the Board of the West Bloomfield School District Education Foundation and co-chaired the successful Parents Campaign. She is actively involved with youth programs, including the Greater West Bloomfield Community Coalition for Youth, the Greater West Bloomfield Michigan Week Committee and. She has held several leadership roles with the Michigan District Optimists. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Southern Oakland County Branch of the NAACP since 2003. Sheryl is also a Board Member of Camp Fire USA-North Oakland County.
Sheryl is a graduate of Leadership Oakland X and serves on their Board. She is a fellowship recipient and graduate of Michigan State University's-Michigan Political Leadership Program. Sheryl Warren Mitchell is President and owner of Warren and Associates, LLC, a tax and business-consulting firm, which has been in operation since 1987. She is a volunteer with the Accounting Aid Society of Michigan, which provides free income tax services for seniors and low-income residents.
Sheryl takes great pride in her community service and thrives to have a positive impact in the lives of others. The true joys in Sheryl's life are her 16-year-old son, Allen, and her volunteer activities that support youth, women and seniors.
