The Michigan Commission on Services to the Aging approved recognition to the Community for a Lifetime Leadership Team for completing an Elder-friendly Community Assessment for the City of Alpena. Some of the strengths of the assessment noted by the Community for a Lifetime review panel included the following:
Listed specifics of identified gaps and what is needed for improvement.
Resolution from the Alpena Municipal Council supporting the project.
A leadership development program for seniors.
A comprehensive community service directory.
Local code requirements and related details that support accessibility and visitability.
