Michigan's Housing and Community Development Fund

The Michigan State Housing Development Authority (MSHDA) Act of 1966, Act 346 of 1966, part 125.1458a Michigan Housing and Community Development Fund (the “Fund”) charges MSHDA with creating and implementing the Michigan housing and community development program for the purpose of developing and coordinating public and private resources to meet the affordable housing needs of low income, very low income, and extremely low income households and to revitalize downtown areas in Michigan. The Fund will support projects designed to fuel strategies leveraging public and private resources to meet the affordable housing needs of low income, very low income, and extremely low income households in this state.

Project Description:
Avalon will assist 132 households (approximately 272 persons) through the rehabilitation of 72 existing units of at-risk low-income housing. Grant funds will also be used for the creation of a housing coordinator to assist 60 homeless adults returning from prison through Avalon's prisoner re-entry program.

Community Housing Network

Project Description:
Community Housing Network will use grant funds for pre-development costs for a proposed Section 811 Supportive Housing project for persons with disabilities. The proposed development is for four scattered site permanent supportive rental housing units.

Eastside LAND, Inc.

Eastside LAND, Inc. will acquire an existing 4-unit commercial and a 16-unit residential development known as West Village Manor. The acquisition will allow the units to stay affordable to the 22 residential tenants and four retail tenants.

Housing Resources, Inc. will expand their existing rapid re-housing services targeted to homeless or precariously housed individuals and families using the Housing First model. Grant funds will be used for security deposits and housing services. HRI proposes to provide 25 security deposits, 25 housing search, placement and retention activities, and engagement of 25 landlords.
