MSHDA HCV Waiting List Information
If you need assistance in paying your rent, reside or work in a county with an open waiting list, your income falls within allowable limits, and the rental unit you choose to live in meets the Housing Quality Standards inspection and rental limits set forth by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), you may qualify for the program. Proof of residency in the county for which you apply is required upon your name being drawn off the waiting list for assistance.
The following Project-based Voucher (PBV) development waiting lists have opened recently or will be opening soon.
Note: PBV waiting lists MAY remain open and county residency is not a requirement for PBV waiting lists. You cannot apply online to a project-based voucher waiting list. Only a Lead Agency assigned to the property can determine your initial eligibility for placement on the PBV development waiting list. For county listings of Project Based Developments and contact information, visit the following page: Project Based Developments.

How do I Apply?
You are only able to apply to a list that is open. You may only apply once and your best chance of being selected is to apply for the waiting list in the county in which you live or work. Use the online pre-application to apply.
Currently, all homeless waiting lists are open in each county. See the Homeless section below for more information.
Note: You cannot update your information (address, household members, etc.) using the online pre-application. If you try to do so, the updates will not be processed. If you are currently on a waiting list, you must use Applicant Portal to update your information.
If you or a member of your household is a person with disabilities and requires a reasonable accommodation to apply for the MSHDA Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List, please call (517) 241-8986 to assist you with your application.
If you are homeless, please contact the Housing Assessment and Resource Agency (HARA) in your area. Only a State approved homeless agency can qualify an applicant for the homeless preference. Click on the following link to see a listing of agencies: Homeless Agencies
Homeless Veterans – VASH Vouchers
If you are a homeless Veteran, you may be eligible for the HUD VASH program. Please contact the VA case manager or other VA contact in your area to find out if you qualify. Visit the following page for more information and a list of the VA Medical Centers assigned to MSHDA: HUD VASH Vouchers
