No Worker Left Behind

Michigan Regional Skills Alliances (MiRSAs)
and No Worker Left Behind (NWLB):

How These Initiatives Work Together to Shape a Unified Workforce Development Strategy for Michigan

The MiRSA and NWLB initiatives are part of a comprehensive plan to transform Michigan's economy.  Both initiatives are employer-driven, designed to fill current and anticipated vacancies in an accelerated time frame.  By capitalizing on short-term training being provided by the colleges, universities, and other training providers, workers will transition to good paying jobs in high demand occupations, emerging industries, and entrepreneurial endeavors.

While the NWLB initiative is the over-arching initiative, MiRSAs play a key role in the transition of workers to new careers through NWLB by:

  • Engaging groups of employers to identify and solve common workforce problems,
  • Assessing their current workforce strengths and weaknesses,
  • Determining skill needs for the future,
  • Attracting smart and talented people, and
  • Retaining them in Michigan.

For more information about the No Worker Left Behind Initiative, visit the NWLB website at www.michigan.gov/nwlb .
