August 4, 2008 -- The Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) two-year construction project on US-131, from West River Drive to 10 Mile Road, will be completed, and all lanes and ramps will be open to traffic by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 5, weather permitting.
"We appreciate motorists' patience over the past two years," said Erick Kind, MDOT Grand Rapids Transportation Service Center manager. "In return for that patience, motorists will have a safe, smooth roadway that should last for 20 years."
This $19.3 million project included resurfacing 6.4 miles of US-131 and reconstructing the ramps at West River Drive, Post Drive and 10 Mile Road.
