Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land today encouraged vehicle buyers and sellers to understand their rights and responsibilities before making a deal, and urged them to visit her agency's Web site for helpful information.

General Information

The Department of State regulates and enforces the Michigan Vehicle Code and the Motor Vehicle Service and Repair Act and investigates complaints that fall within these laws. This includes consumer complaints against vehicle dealers, repair facilities and mechanics.

Some vehicle-related complaints do not fall within the jurisdiction of the laws we administer. Before filing a complaint, check to see if your complaint is non-jurisdictional.
